Gambling911.com released its 2008 Week 4 College Football Predictions today, offering an in depth analysis of “line movements, which sides are getting the most betting action and any opinion the bookmakers might have.”
The Predictions start with LSU vs Auburn, a match which online sports betting fans have taken a particular interest in. Because many oddsmakers differed on which team they favored in this match, some internet sportsbooks may feel a bigger blow than others when the outcome is revealed. An estimated 80 percent of sports bettors wagered on LSU in some outfits, and 80 percent on Auburn in others. SBG Global had placed LSU at a -2 favorite over Auburn, but according to Gambling911, “this game played in Auburn makes both teams nearly dead even with LSU perhaps having only one point edge. Hence, an Auburn cover as the small underdog looks especially likely.”
The online gambling website continues its analysis with Temple vs. Penn State, in which 95 percent of online sports bettors invested in Penn State. When the lines opened, Temple was oddsmakers favorite at -30. The odds have gradually declined in an attempt to get more wagers on their favorites. Gambling911 predicts that the oddsmakers will stop the decline at -26 and one half as the line is shaded just above -25. The website opines, “Penn State has a better than 55 percent chance of covering here as the huge underdog if you MUST bet on this very inflated line.”
In the case of Georgia vs. Arizona State, another game that has seen a substantial amount of action, the lines opened with the Bull Dogs at -6 and one half. The line has since moved to -7 ATB, and the site believes the 99 degree heat may have played a role in the oddsmakers’ decision. “Gambling911.com believes the line in this game should be Georgia Bulldogs -9 and the odds makers overall are relatively close in their assessment of this line, off by a mere 2 points, which we think will allow for a Georgia cover as the favorite.”
The online gambling site reports that in the Florida vs. Tennessee University match, -8 is the highest line they’ve seen, although they feel that Florida should be set at -8 and one half. The site’s experts believe “there is a better than 50 percent chance that Florida will cover the spread as the favorite with a 9 point win over Tennessee University.
The analysis continues, placing East Carolina as a favorite over North Carolina State, Arknsas to cover as the underdog over Alabama, Notre Dame to cover as the underdog over Michigan State, and finally, Gambling911 reports in the Iowa vs. Pisstburgh University game. Pittsburgh remains the -1 favorte, but Iowa has seen 60/40 action. The site reports, “Huge underlay from what we can see as Iowa is a much better team and the line actually should be closer to -7 but large discrepancies like this scare us so we can’t really offer an opinion here. Typically, the team that is not supposed to win in these situations DOES.”
Gambling911 has made a number of accurate predictions in the past, include its prediciting the Louisville win.
