Power Rankings, NFL Week 13

by Hillary LaClair, Senior Editor

Going into week 13 of online NFL betting, handicappers might want to take a look at the power rankings as they stand. It is of no surprise that the Giants remain number 1 in the rankings this year, showing just as much grit this season as last, if not more.

1.)    The New York Giants. This team has had a solid year, and while the Giants lost two of their best offensive players, Jacobs and Plax, they still managed to annihilate Arizona on the road.

2.)    Tied with the Giants are the Tennessee Titans. How they’ve made it this far, I don’t know. They suffered a recent loss to the New York Jets, and we’re not surprised. To quote DocSports, “any team that is tough enough to stand up to their rushing game for a full 60 minutes can beat this team.”

3.)    The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are number three, with a record of 8-3. Tampa Bay is number 30 in the NFL touchdown percentage.

4.)    The Carolina Panthers come in at four, after Green Bay have up 51 points on Monday Night Football. The Panthers are 8-3, 6-o ATS and their opposing team was the underdog at 6-2-1

5.)    At 8-3, the Steelers come in fifth, as one of the view football teams to show any consistency this year. Luckily for this team, they’ve had 9 days of rest after a bang-up season. In their last 11 games, the Steelers have held the opposing team under 300 yards.

6.)    The Jets are tied with the Steelers and Panthers with 8-3. While the Jets kicked the season off pretty rough, they’ve managed to pull through and are playing incredibly well in their past few games. With the most recent victory over the Tennessee Titans, the confidence instilled in this team may be enough to get them a higher power ranking come week 14.

7.)    I can’t help but take a little pleasure in seeing the New England Patriots in 7th place this season with a record of 7-4. In their last 10 meetings against Pittsburg, the Patriots stand at 7-3 SU and 8-2 ATS. After seeing them lose to Miami, I think anything is possible for the Steelers at this point.

8.)    The Arizona Cardinals come in 8th place, having just been annihilated by the Giants, despite the fact that they didn’t have to face the teams’ key offense.  The Cardinals stand at 1-2 against the NFC East this year and 2-16 SU.

9.)    The Cowboys are making a comeback this season, in 9th place with 7-4. Whether this is because the team is improving, or because they’re facing some mediocre teams lately, is yet to be known. They stand at 1-2 SU in their last 3 meetings, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games, and a favorite of 9.0 or greater.

10.) Finally, the Washington Redskins come in 10th place. We’re not sure what happened here, as the Redskins started the season well. Generally, this is the time of the year when the Redskins pay their best, but they’re beginning to extend their losing streak. The Redskins stand at 7-4.
