In a contest applauded for it's ability to turn underdogs into champions the NCAA Basketball tournament has been a contest especially surprised by upsets this year. While the tournament was drolly predictable going into the sweet sixteen, that round saw all four top-seeded teams eliminated.
"At that point things pretty much went haywire." Said Will Catlett, chief sports editor at SportsBettingScams.org, an online sports book watchdog site. "So what we're really looking at is a lot of unhappy sports bettors."
While a certain very small percentage of bettors made it through that round and came out with their teams -- and wallets -- still intact, the vast majority of bettors are coming out having to make additional deposits if they want to bet on more games. This is the time, according to Catlett, when it's especially important that you're betting with a reputable sports book.
"Any chucked-together operation can stay afloat as long as they're taking your money." He says. "But the test of a top sports book is their ability to pay when you win."
For the handful of bettors who bet on the 500-1 Patriots, that payout could be incredibly handsome. Little-known underdog George Mason pulled off one of the most stunning upsets in NCAA tournament history by beating top-seeded UCONN to win the Washington Regional and advance to the Final Four.
But the contest is still far from over. If anything, these upsets have just made the betting on the remaining games all the more intense. Before you deposit, read reviews of reputable sports books tested by veteran sports bettors, go to www.sportsintensity.com .
